Siam Ocean World has been a relatively recent addition to the attractions of Bangkok.
Situated next to the exclusive mall at Siam Paragon, on the lower ground floor, the largest aquarium complex in the region is something to enjoy, no matter what age.
The place is divided into seven sections with displays and live tanks covering rocky shore, rainforest, open oceans and reefs.
There is a section for jelly fish all of their own.
With such a new facility the technology is right up to date, but visitors can also see simple, 'old fashioned' shows for the feeding of penguins, sharks and the like.
It seems out of place to have this in the centre of Bangkok, but without doubt it is one of the most popular attractions in the city, especially for families.
Siam Ocean World is the biggest aquarium in Asia, has see through subterranean tunnels on the basement floor where visitors can admire the wonders of marine life close up
The star cast of marine creatures includes blue ringed octopus, ragged-tooth sharks, stingrays, sea dragons, sea lions and giant spider crabs.
The hightlight of a visit is walk through the long, glass tunnels surrounded on three sides by sharks, stingrays and other undersea wildlife.
Price: The
cost of entrance is 850 baht for adults and 650 for children.
Feeding shows take place from 12 Noon, and at various times during the afternoon.
General opening is from 10am to 10 pm daily.
To get there: The Siam Ocean World is next to Siam Paragon and can be found at the Siam Skytrain station on both Sukhumvit and Silom lines.
